Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 604, reports as follows:
Communication No. 604, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
April 19, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of donations from Mr. Edward Fukuda, d.b.a. Kandi's
Drive Inn, Inc. and Mr. Itsu Kitamura, Itsu's Fishing Supplies.
Mr. Edward Fukuda. d.b.a. Kandi's Drive Inn, Inc., and Mr. Itsu Kitamura, [tsu's Fishing
Supplies have graciously donated $50.00 and $20.00 to the Department of Parks & Recreation,
to cover expenses of the Recreation Division's Annual Biggest Faster Egg Hunt.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Edward Fukuda, d.b.a. Kandi's Drive ]nn, [nc., 56 W.
Kawailani Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96721 and Mr. ltsu Kitamura, [tsu's Fishing Supplies, Inc., 810
Pi'ilani Street, Hilo. F[awai`i 96720. acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on }^'inance recommends the acceptance of the $50.00 and $20.00 donations
from Mr. Edward Fukuda, d.b.a. Kandi's Drive Inn, Inc. and Mr. Itsu Kitamura, Itsu's Fishing
Supplies.
