Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 268, reports as follows:
Bill No. 268, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 615,
dated April 30, 2004, amends Ordinance No. 03A1, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending
,June 30, 2004. The amendment is as follows:
From:
3305.29 State Grants-Greetings Program General $15,000
To:
010-161-5163.01 Greeting Program -State Ueneral $15,000
The Department of Research and Development will be receiving additional funds from the State
of Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority, for the planning of special and unique programs for the
inaugural voyage of the Pride of Aloha cruise ship of the Norwegian Cruise Lines. Specifically,
the funds will be used for creative and expanded activities of greetings at Hilo Harbor on .July 7("
and Kailua Pier on July 8'".
Pursuant to Section 46-7, }{awai'i Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County
Charter, the Mayor is already authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for this
program identitied in the Operating Budget.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 268 and
recommends it pass first reading.
