Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 297, reports as follows:
BiII No. 297, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 210-04 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via
Communication No. 690, dated July 12, 2004, amends Ordinance No. 04-74, as amended, the Operating Budget,
ending June 30, 2005. The amendrnent is as follows:

These funds from the State of Hawaii Department of Health will be used to establish a community Automated
External Detibrillator (AED) advisory committee; coordinate AED training with the American Heart Association:
purchase 17 to 20 AED's for placement with identitied agencies; and assist AED agencies with medical protocols.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor is
hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for Automated External Detibrillator Access
program.
Battalion Chief Scotty Paiva, Fire Department F,MS Division explained that $46,000 is for at least 17 AFD's and
the remaining $16,000 is for administrative training, supply, and equipment.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of BiII No. 297 and recommends it pass first
readine.
