No. 691/Bill No. 298 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 298, reports as follows: <br />Bill No. 298, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 691, dated <br />July 12, 2004. amends Ordinance No. 04-75, as amended, the Capital Budget, ending June 30.2005, by <br />adding the following project: <br />PUBLIC WORKS: <br />Kuakini Highway Improvements. Palani Road 110-399-5396J5 $6.000,000 <br />to Hualalai Road -Federal <br />Funds for these projects shall be provided from Federal grant receivable. <br />This increases the federal funding for the Kuakini Highway improvements from Palani Road to Hualalai <br />Road to $16.4 million. This project includes widening of Kuakini Highway within the project limits, <br />concrete curb/gutter/sidewalk, paving, drainage improvements, retaining walls, traffic signal <br />impro~~ements, and utility relocation. This additional appropriation is being requested to cover the <br />anticipated construction bid amount, cost of construction engineering/management, and possible future <br />costs such as increases in utility costs and change orders due to unforeseen conditions. <br />Some members of Your Committee requested background information regarding the prgject and a <br />breakdown of the anticipated construction bid amount, cost of construction engineering and possible <br />future costs to unforeseen conditions.
