Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 308, reports as follows:
Bill No. 308, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba. via Communication No. 720,
dated August 2, 2004, amends Ordinance No. 04-74, as amended. the Operating Budget, ending
.tune 30, 2005. The amendment is as follows:

The Police Department will be receiving additional funds from the U.S. Department of
Transportation, through the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Public Affairs Office
-Safe Community Program. "Chew additional funds will used for travel expenses to attend and
participate in the Statewide Traffic Investigation training that will be held on Maui.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County
Charter, the Mayor is already authorized to apply tor, receive and expend the funds for this
program identified in the operating budget.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 308 and
recommends it pass first reading.
