Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 222-04, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 222-04, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 721, dated August 5, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from
Mr. Lawrence M. O. C hun.
Mr. Lawrence M. O. Chun has graciously donated an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
"In Memory of Sergeant First Class Wesley John Kealoha Batalona, US Army Retired" to the
Deparunent of Parks & Recreation for use at the Honoka'a Pool. The value of this donation is
estimated at $1,200.
Pursuant to Article Xlll, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Lawrence M. O. Chun, 421 C Olomana Street, Kailua,
Hawaii 96734-2275. acknowledging this generous donation.
At today's meeting. Mr. Chun gave a short presentation to recognize a few people who assisted
him and particularly to pay tribute to the late Sergeant First Class Wesley John Kealoha
Batalona, US Army Relired.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 222-04
and recommends its adoption.
