Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 228-04, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 228-04, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 313 by Director of Finance <br />William 'fakaba, via Communication No. 734, dated August 1 I, 2004, authorizes the Office of <br />the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation for <br />the Federal 'transit Administration Section 5309 Capital grant. <br />the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has authorized a $2,357,423 grant to the <br />Hawaii County Mass 'hransit Agency to purchase additional accessible buses and spare parts to <br />enhance the island's public transportation service and to create park and ride lot in Kona and <br />Puna. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent <br />of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />pow crs. <br />I'om Brown, Mass 7Yansit Administrator, explained that the Mass Transit Agency will be <br />conducting a survey to sec how they can better serve the community, and the program should be <br />up and running by February 2005. <br />Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 228-04 <br />and recommends its adoption. <br />snc <br /> <br />CHUNG X <br />SAFARIK X <br />a RA 10:11: t x <br />F.LARIONOFF X <br />HOLSCIiI~H X <br />.lA('OBSON X <br />REYNOLDS X <br />TULANG X <br />TYI,F.R X <br />Respectfully submitted <br />CO ITTEE ON FINANCE <br />.~d' <br />6 '~ <br />AARON S.Y.
