This is the resolution supporting the
development of the Ka'apuni 01-awai'i Pathway. This resolution was
patterned after resolution NCR 136 which was passed by the State House.
As a bike shop owner, sporting event producer, current President of
PATH (Plaople's Advocacy for Trails Hawaii) and widow of a cyclist that
was killed in a cycling accident on the Big Island in 1994, 1 have a keen
interest n the promotion of morn safe areas to recreate.
Thy: work of PATH and other supporting organizations on the Ka'apuni
O'Hawal' Pathway is a great beginning towards providing a safe and
accessible place for recreation and exercise. The support of the Council
of this project is critical in the pursuit of additional funds for this and

other similar projects.
Wi+:h the growth of Eco-Toijrisrn and the promotion of the Big island
as a spc its and wellness destination, trails such as this are and will
continue to become more and rrmre ;mportant for the future of our
community.

Sincerely,

Gerry L.
