No. 244-04 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />TIME: 10:10 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 244-04, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 244-04, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 339 by Director of Finance <br />William Takaba, via Communication No. 782, dated September 22, 2004, authorizes the Office <br />of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, <br />Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program for a Roadblock Program grant. <br />The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Public Affairs Office -Safe Community <br />Program has authorized a $138,700 grant to the Police Department for a Roadblock Program. <br />The goals of this grant program are to reduce the number of alcohol related traffic fatalities and <br />injuries, to increase the public awareness, and to provide a constant deterrence against impaired <br />driving by conducting impaired driving roadblocks on our highways.
