No. 248-04 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />17ME: 1:25 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo. Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Kesolution No. 248-04, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 248-04, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 345 by Director of Finance <br />William Takaba, via Communication No. 795, dated September 29, 2004, authorizes the Office <br />of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of "transportation, <br />Public Affairs Oftice -Safe Community Program for a Repeat Offenders Project grant. <br />fhe State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Public Affairs Office- Safe Community <br />Program has authorized a $16,800 grant to the Police Department for a Repeat Offenders Project <br />to reduce major traffic crashes and fatalities involving drivers with no valid driver's licenses. <br />I~his program will consist of checkpoints, courthouse sting operations and zero-tolerance <br />enforcement. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent <br />of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 248-04 <br />and recommends its adoption. <br />SI11C <br /> A 1'h:S NOES ~\&4: UtS <br />CHUNG X <br />SA FA RI I< X <br />ARA RAIiI X <br />F.LARIONOFF X <br />HOLSCHUH X <br />JACORSON X <br />REYNOLDS X <br />TULANG X <br />TYLER X <br />Respectfully submitted <br />~~~ <br />COMMITTEE ON FWANCE <br />
