Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 258-04, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 258-04, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 361 by Director of Finance William
hakaba, via Communication No. 830. dated October 22, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of~a
donation from Wal-Mart Hilo.
Wal-Mart Hilo, as part of its community involvement program, has graciously donated $1,000.00
for fire prevention and $500.00 for health related issues to the Hawaii County Fire Department
for the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of
Fire Prevention Week and of Emergency Medical Services (FMS) Week in May 2005.
Pursuant to Article XIH, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council. on behalf of the
County. may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate.
A letter ot~appreciation will be sent to Mr. Glenn Schneider, Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo,
325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo. Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 258-04
and recommends its adoption.
