via Communication No. 831, dated October 22. 2004, amends Ordinance No. 04-74, as amended, the
Operating Budget, ending June 30. 2005. The amendment is as follows:

fhe State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has authorized a Highway Safety Training Program
grant to the 1 lawai`i County~s Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. "Fhese grants funds, derived from
federal 1Lnds, will be used to conduct Statewide training sessions on DUI Enforcement and Prosecution
and on Crash Reconstruction Dynamics, vehicles and occupant kinematics.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the
Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for a Highway Safety Training
Program grant.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 362 and recommends it
pass first reading.
