No. 837 <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance. to which was referred Communication No. 837, reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 837, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated <br />October 26, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Ms. Toby S. Hazel. <br />Ms. Toby S. Hazel has graciously donated an art work entitled "Recycle Right Now" to the <br />I?nvironmental Management (DEM), to increase public awareness about how solid waste trash <br />items can be used in a positive, creative manner and to bring attention to the inappropriate <br />disposal of cigarettes throughout our County and State. The art work will be located in the <br />DIiM's administrative office in the County Building. The value of this donation is estimated at <br />$100. <br />Pursuant to Article Xlll, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the <br />County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. <br />Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30. Section 2-162(c), of the }~Iawai'i County Code, any <br />donation or gift which does not tall within the capitalization procedures of the department of <br />finance shall be submitted to the council by fetter for its approval. <br />A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Ms. Toby S. Hazel, RR4 Box 2298, Pahoa, Hawaii <br />96778, acknowledging this generous donation. <br />Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the donation of the art work entitled <br />"Recycle Right Now" from Ms. Toby S.
