RESOLUTION NO. ~~2 ~I~
RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND
FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Place of Puna is a nonprofit agency whose programs are
to provide an important family-based safety net for children; and
WHEREAS, when children succeed in school, they are less likely to engage in drug and
alcohol use; and
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Place of Puna is the lead agency of the Puna "Ready to
Learn" community collaboration program to assist families at risk; and
WHEREAS, "Ready to Learn" is a statewide project with the goal of providing
Hawai`i's children with the basic school supplies to promote learning as prevention method; and
WHEREAS, in ?007, school supplies were purchased and distributed to approximately
1,000 children at the Maku`u Farmers Market and in Mountain View; and
WHEREAS, this year the goal is to purchase and distribute school supplies for 1,300
children in Pahoa, Kea`au and Mountain View; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to be used to support the Neighborhood Place of Puna for
the Ready to Learn program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

CREDITED TO:
010.271.5271.02 Office of the Prosecuting Attorney $5,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
