A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S).
WHEREAS, the mission of the Hawaii Island Humane Society is to promote respect for
all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the
relationship between humans and animals; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society helps animals in need by using
volunteers who gain valuable skills in companion animal care and behavior, customer service,
and team work, including training opportunities for our long-term volunteers; and
WHEREAS the Hawaii Island Humane Society has recently started a pilot disease
screening project to determine the number of animals in the control group that were positive for
feline infectious virus and feline leukemia as well as parvo virus in dogs, and determined that ten
percent of the animals have tested positive for infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society is funded by donations for operational
expenses; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island Humane Society is hosting and sponsoring clinics island
wide to spay and neuter cats and dogs free for the public; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Police Department, Animal Control, to be used to help the Hawaii Island Humane
Society to defray costs of operating expenses for clinics and the disease screening project; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $10,000
CREDITED TO:
010.239.5239.01 Hawaii Police Department $10,000
Animal Control, Miscellaneous Contract Services
(Hawai`i Island Humane Society)
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forwazd a copy of this
resolution to the Police Chief and the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
