Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating $500,000 for an ADA
Compliance project. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 requires that
facilities be readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.
The department would like this bill to go directly to the Council meeting
scheduled on June 1, 1998.

A. REOUEST:
Amendment to Ordinance No. 97-82 (CIP) to include a $500,000 appropriation entitled
ADA Compliance.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 requires that facilities be readily
accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.
Supplemental funding is needed for updating of our transition plan and implementation
of improvements.

RE: Bill for an ordinance appropriating $500,000 for an ADA
Compliance project
Pursuant to Section 1(e) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of
the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written approval is
submitted in regards to Bill No. 250 , relating to appropriating
$500,000 for an ADA Compliance project, waiving said referral from
the Committee on Finance, in order that appropriate action can be
taken by the Council at its next meeting.
In reviewing the contents of the referral, it is deemed advisable
that such waiver be granted.
