Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating $260,407 into some Victims of
Crime Act (VOCA) accounts. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney had
originally budgeted $110,000 for this federal grant. It has been notified that an
additional $260,407 has been received.
The department would like this bill to go directly to the Council meeting
scheduled on June 1, 1998.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney.

A. REOUEST:
To amend the appropriation amounts and add accounts for our Federally funded
Victims of Crime Act (V.O.C.A.) program.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Our previous projection for the expenditure of $110,000.00 in Federal Grant
monies falls short of the approved budget for this program by $260,407.00. We
request that the supplemental appropriation be distributed according to the

RE: Bill for an Ordinance Appropriating $260,407 into some Victims of Crime Act Accounts
Pursuant to Section 1 (e) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written approval is submitted in regards to the attached, relating to an ordinance to
amend Ordinance No. 97-83, as amended, the operating budget for the County of Hawaii for the
fiscal year ending June 30, 1998, waiving said referral from the Committee on Finance in order
that appropriate action can be taken by the Council at its next meeting.
In reviewing the contents of the referral, it is deemed advisable that such waiver be granted.
