Toy 1 Ref, Hawai `i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer County of Hawaii PROJECT DATA/FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT Fiscal Year 2008 to 2009 DEPARTMENT: Department of Public Works DATE: May 19, 2008 ROJECT/PROGRAM NAME: Ainaloa Waterline Installation OCATION (attach map): Kea`au, Puna, Hawaii TMK: 3-1-6-97 and 9 COUNCIL DISTRICT: 5 AMOUNT REQUESTED: $900,000 ROJECT/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: To install a waterline from State Highway 130 along Ainaloa Boulevard to Woodrose Drive in the Ainaloa Subdivision. The appropriation amount represents the construction and materials cost for installation of the waterline with fire hydrants every 600 feet and stub-outs at the lateral streets between State Highway 130 and Woodrow Drive. The roadway lot is described as Lot 9716, area 23.217 acres, as shown on Map 586, filed with Land Court Application No. 1053 (amended) of W.H. Shipman, Limited, known as Ainaloa Boulevard. PROJECT/PROGRAM JUSTIFICATION: Provide water to residents in the Ainaloa Subdivision and to provide for the water needs of future development within designated urban expansion areas along Ainaloa Boulevard. The proposed Ainaloa Volunteer Fire Company would also have access to water from a standpipe at end of waterline for residential firefighting and for fighting range fires. The Ainaloa Subdivision borders on the Puna Forest Reserve where thousands of acres of forest burned to the property lines of the subdivision in a range fire during a drought in 1984.
