Comm. 788: APPOINTMENT TO HAWAII REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY From Mayor Dante K. Carpenter dated September 30, 1986, submitting for consideration and confirmation, the reappointment of Ms. Kikue Iwanaka, a democrat from Hilo, to the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency for a term to expire on December 31, 1991. She is presently serving on the HRA but her current term will expire on December 31, 1986. Comm. 789: REZONING REQUEST - C. CHASE HOFFMAN (Bill 258) KALOKO, NORTH KONA TAX MAP KEY 7-3-24:21 (17.370 acres) From Planning Commission Chairperson Barbara A. Koi dated October 2, 1986, submitting for adoption, a bill to change the district classification from an Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) to an Agricultural 3-acre (A-3a) zoned district at Kaloko Mauka Subdivision, Increment I, Kaloko, North Kona. Comm. 792: PROPOSED BILLS TO AMEND THE STATE OHANA LAW From John P. Whalen, Director of Land Utilization, Department of Land Utilization, City and County of Honolulu, dated October 8, 1986, transmitting for the Council's support, copies of two proposed bills and a Justification Sheet to the State House of Representatives and the Senate which propose to amend the Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Zoning, Section 46-4(C), to allow each County the authority and discretion to implement the "Ohana" law according to their land use plans and housing needs. Also transmits a copy of a report entitled "Assessment of Ohana Zoning" which they submitted to the City Council. Included in this report is a proposed bill which has been before City Council since July 1985. Proponents of ohana housing have been very organized and effective in preventing passage of this bill. PC-40 Page 3 October 21, 1986 Res. 219: NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Adopts the North Kohala Community Development Plan as the official document to guide future development in North Kohala. Intr. by: Mr. Schutte Bill 253: AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 14, ARTICLE 4, HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 Amends Chapter 14, Article 4, Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to smoking. Intr. by: Mr. Herkes and Miss Lai Comm. 790: From Captain Ralph Yoshizumi, Fire Auxiliary Services Officer, Hawaii County Fire Department, dated October 9, 1986, transmitting, as requested, statistics on cigarette-related fires for 1984, 1985 and 1986. 790.1: From LeRoy C. Boyce dated October 8, 1986, expressing his appreciation to Councilmembers Lai and Herkes for co-introducing Bill 253, as he feels the law is badly needed and overdue. However, recommends that the bill be amended to add public eating establishments of all types to the public areas regulated. NEW BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT
