Comm. 1242: HAWAII REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES
From Glenn E. Mason, Chairperson, Hawaii Historic
Places Review Board, State Department of Land and
Natural Resources, dated August 18, 1987, informing
that at their August 15, 1987 meeting, they placed the
following three properties on the Hawaii Register of
Historic Places and also recommended the sites to the
State Historic Preservation officer for nomination to
the National Register of Historic Places:
1. The East Hamakua Protestant Church
2. Opihikao Evangelical Church Residence
3. Michael Victor Houses
Comm. 1244: BUSINESS IN HAWAII
From John F. Barretto, Jr., President, Ahukini
corporation, dated August 21, 1987, informing of issues
and pending legislation that are now before Congress,
which he feels will adversely affect small businesses
in Hawaii.
Encourages the Mayors and County Councils, with the
help of NACo and the Senate and House of
Representatives, to study the issues and send a
resolution to Congress; also, the Chamber of Commerce,
the Economic Development Board and other business
groups to make their concerns known to Hawaii's
delegation to Congress.

Comm. 1247: DRAFT GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT DOCUMENT AND MAPS
(Bill 402) From Mayor Dante K. Carpenter dated August 28, 1987,
submitting for review and favorable consideration, copy
of the draft General Plan amendment document and maps.
1247.1: From Henry A. Ross dated August 31, 1987, regarding
comprehensive review of the County General Plan.
Submits comments on proposed LUPAG Map changes #37 and
#39, which call for urbanization of approximately
400 acres of agriculturally zoned land in North Kohala.
Comm. 1251: HELICOPTER FLIGHTS - VOLCANO AREA
Copy of letter to Barry Stokes, Volcano Residents
Against Noise, from Councilman Russell Kokubun dated
August 30, 1987, informing that their request for
stricter noise abatement of helicopter flights over the
Volcano area can be more appropriately addressed at the
Council level; thus, has referred his letter to the
Planning Committee.
Comm. 1252: HSAC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT

of the meeting of the Committee held on August 28,
