Krieger dated July 1, 1988, submitting a bill deleting Condition D (pavement and shoulder improvements to Old Government Mauka Road) of Ordinance No. 86 135. Informs the Planning Commission and the Planning Director have recommended denial of the request. Comm. 1247.17: GENERAL PLAN From Public Works Committee Chairwoman Merle Lai and Planning Committee Chairman Takashi Domingo dated June 25, 1988, proposing that a more defined policy statement calling for a connector road between the Belt Highway and the Queen Kaahumanu Highway be included in the General Plan. Recommends the statement in the General Plan (page XII-11, Course of Action, Kona) be amended to read as follows: "Construct a mauka-makai connector road (Which shall meet the 'urban' requirements of a Secondary Arterial as defined in the Subdivision code) between the Hawaii Belt Highway and the Queen Kaahumanu Highway to relieve traffic on Kaiminani and Palani Roads." Comm. 1247.18: From Roger A. Ulveling, Director, Department of Business and Economic Development, dated June 28, 1988, transmitting recommended detailed changes to the amendments to the County General Plan. States it is a follow-up to the supporting remarks made by Harold Masumoto, Director of Office of State planning, on items 9 and 10 at the June 20, 1988 Planning Committee meeting. Brewer Properties in the interest of appropriate development for their region and feel that the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is inadequate and should be rejected by the County. Comm. 677.2: From Thomas S. Witten, ASLA, Principal, Phillips Brandt and Reddick, dated September 11, 1987, transmitting for review and comment, C. Brewer Properties, Inc.'s Preparation Notice for the Punalu'u Resort Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Winterbottom, Punaluu Preservation Committee, dated September 28, 1987, transmitting copy of his article entitled "Punaluu committee's response", which appeared in VIEWPOINT, rebutting the contention in Communication 677.2 that Resort Master Plan revisions will significantly reduce potential adverse impacts on the Punaluu Special Management Area, and offers comments on the revised EISPN. Comm. 677.5 Copy of letter to Planning Department from Linda Lyerly dated January 19, 1988, informing of her opposition to C. Brewer's proposed Punalu'u Resort development.
