Comm. 1767: SAFETY ON THE HIGHWAYS
From Michael Leiter vice-president, Big Island
Fleet Safety Organization, dated August 24, 1988,
informing their organization, at its July 28, 1988
meeting, discussed in length, "Safety On The
Highways", with emphasis on cycling, particularly
in connection with the Ironman Triathlon.
Transmits, for information, the minutes of the
meeting and a membership roster and seeks support
for better and equitable conditions for safety on
the highways.
Comm. 1770: COMMUNICATION
From Kerrith H. (Kerry) King dated August 29, 1988,
regarding communication between the Council and the
community. Requests a special County Council all
day meeting be held from the hours of 9 a.m. to
9 p.m. to serve as a communication workshop for
elected officials and citizens.

Comm. 1774: ACTION TO RESOLVE CONFLICTING LAND USE DESIGNATION
From Councilman Russell S. Kokubun dated
September 7, 1988, requesting that the Planning
Committee follow up on the request of
Resolution 462, regarding action to resolve
conflicting land use designation.
Res. 489: WEST HAWAII MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE
Supports the intent of the General Improvements Act
of 1988 in recognizing the need for locating a
West Hawaii municipal golf course within the
Kealakehe Community Development Project and urges
the State Housing Finance and Development
Corporation to expedite the implementation of this
facility by incorporation into the proposed
detailed master plan for the 1536-acre Kealakehe
Planned Community.

dated August 23, 1988, regarding her presentation
with Steven Bowles at the Planning Committee's
August 16, 1988 meeting concerning the deepening of
Huehue Ranch's test water well and the County's
water policy.
Requests a written hydrological report for the
redrilled well, in order that the County may review
the ramifications of the test well being deepened
with respect to water quality, increase in flow,
and the well's status as either a test or
production well.
Further, comments on Condition (B), which is
directly related to the hydrological report for the
redrilled well.
