Councilmembers Bmily Naeole and Angel Pilaga,
I have not seen the resolution and I am not Hawaiian, but given the fact
that Jim Albertini who is probably a Hawaiian transplant,. not a native,
either} is aggressively seeking the support afthe entire anti-DU activist
community through a mouthpiece Cathy C~arger in Maryland, I would like to
address you as well.
Depleted Uranium is not a threat to Hawaii. Leuren Moret, who made a big
theatrical play an KITV to tell you that DU was in the air that day is a con
artist and a liar. She claims to be a radiation expert yet has never
testified before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and falsely claims to
leave been a "scientist" at two nuclear weapons laboratories. In reality,
Moret was a graduate student in geology at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory
and never even considered an employee and a Sr Scientific Technologist in
the Center for Applied Scientific Computing for less than a year from 1989
to 1990 at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
The greatest threat to Hawaii right now is the natural venting of sulfurous
fumes from Kilauea wltich is killing crops as you are reading this.
Now, why do I care about your vote. In 2004, I got involved in opposing the
anti-depleted uranium crusade and learning about the scientific charlatans
like Moret who has a BS in +~ealagy and I have a BA in Cealagy so we are
about equal in scientific education. She did some graduate work in
geochemistry and I have been trained in the detection of, measurement of and
protection against nuclear fall~t along with working closely with nuclear
engineers and technicians and having them to help me interpret the anti-DU
rhetoric. I was very active on veterans far Kerry. a-mail lists and I saw
postings that made DU look like fallout; the dim Albertini followers equate
DU to fallout.
Any geologist knows that uranium occurs naturally all aver the world and is
present in Hawaiian rocks and soil and DIJ is a form of natural uranium. DU
is U238, and it is what is left aver after the much scarcer U2a5 and other
fissionable isotopes are removed in uranium enrichment. It is still a
natural substance and it gases no mare threat than the natural uranium that Cow

efforts of the anti DU crusaders to make DU into a war crime; they term. it a
weapon of mass destrucfiion, but it isn't; they claim that DU is poisonous
dust, but it isn't and they even claim that there is something called.
gaseous uranium which des not exist at normal temperatures. They are very
vocal and they shut out any dissent. This message, for example could not be
posted to their AmericanDUST or NoMoreDU lists in Yahoo Groups because they
do not allow anyone to disagree; they claim to be for free speech, but shout
down anyone who disagrees and falsely accuse them of being some sort of
government agent.
Getting slandered by Doug Rokke, another con artist in the movement, was
the last straw sa I decided to fight back by learning everything that I
could about Rokke and Maret, etc. That led me to monitoring lists and
having Google Alerts and building a group of people on the Internet to
oppose these liars who make money off their personal. appearances, selling
DVDs and collecting donations. That led me to you and I hope that you will
pay attention.
I have attached a copy of
1. the letter from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on Moret's
employment
2. an article that mentions Moret's only known contribution to the
scientific literature, being mentioned in a paper derived from a
distin~.~ished fellow student's doctoral research
3. a radiation instrumentation expert`s analysis of the Mont stunt with her
Gamma Scout Meter
I also strongly recommend that you read the UN Environmental Programme's
report. on field and laboratory research of sites where DU munitions were
