To all the County Council Members before me today....ALOHA!
My name is Suse Soares and I am one of many elderly individuals from
Kohala that uses the HCEOC transportation services to get from one place to
another. Without this service it will be impossible for me to do errands,
shop, go to the doctor and to get to the Kohala Nutrition Center so I may
have my daily lunch.
HCEOC Transportation Services is the only way for me to remain self-
reliant and gives me my independency. There are others in Kohala that are
disabled, live alone and cannot come to the Nutrition Center for their meals.
We the seniors of Kohala Nutrition Center deliver the meals to them with the
help of HCEOC transportation services.
HCEOC was providing us with 8 hours of services, now it is only 6 hours.
With the lack of funds from the state, disabled homebound elderly citizens
and we the seniors will not be able to live an independent healthy lifestyle.
I say to you today that this is up to you now. Help Hawaii County
Economic Opportunity Council Transportation services by considering their
request for funding. By helping HCEOC you are actually helping us.
