This .7 acre shoreline property is a precious gem best
left as a public beach a 5 minute w& lk from downtown
Kailua-Kona, than the ite of 4 story, 21 unit condominim.
There is na higher or getter use f:,r this property than
public ownership and use of this precious .7 acre sandy
beach.
The State PI anring Office cr.isidered the North Kona
coastal zone sufficlently a,lgnificin t to reJect the
YamashIro administration's attempt to arbitrarily cut It
back to Al i i Drive frov Kuck n H..ry as was proposed.
This County Council can acknowledge the very special
nature of this particulAr beach, prcFer- t>' by noting in favor
of Resolution 2751-98 which u,, ouid begin the process of
acquiring this precious ibvach property for our, local
residents and island visitors as ,.ell.
A trade with the County's Henry St. property is a
likely way to obtain this property with little if any cost
to the County.
