We, the undersigned, members of the Machado Acres oo nmunity, ask you to support the
reappropiisdon of funds for the following project PARKS AND RECREATION: Machado Aaes Paris
(110-599-5591.72-115).
The Machado Acres Association donated a 3.994 acre parcel and a 3.923 parcel, more or less, for park
purposes, to the County of Hawaii in 2003. In January of 2005, the Council accepted from the Machado
Acres Association, a monetary donation of $3.030.44 for use in the development of the Machado Acres
Park. An environmental assesment for a passive use neighborhood park was done in September of
2006 and there was a finding of no significant impact.
The families living in the Machado Acres Subdivision have been waiting to have the parcels developed
into a passive park. It would provide a large open area for our children and grandchildren to play in.
Members of the community would be able to walk for exercise without worrying about the heavy traffic
we encounter on both Haihai Street and Ainaola Dnve, the borders of the subdivision. The park would
be a Hawaii County Park for use by the entire island community.
Please support the reappropriation of funds for the construction of Machado Acres Park.
