Dear County Council Members,
I had heard a recent rumor that the Mayor might be including a CIP budget item that
would extend Royal Poinciana Drive to meet Kuakini Highway.
Although I read through the CIP budget for 2008-2009 and the 6-year plan, I did not
see a separate line item for extending Royal Poinciana Drive. I either may have missed
it OR it was not listed as was rumored.
Just in case it comes up for discussion by members of the public at your meeting on
May 20 however, I want to request that you NOT include it in the budget until the
residents of Royal Poinciana Drive are properly notified of this plan and informed
of how it will affect the neighborhood of Aiii Kai.
However, if the Royal Poinciana Extension must be included in the budget, I would
then like to request that along with the cost of extending Royal Poinciana Drive to
meet Kuakini Hwy, the budget also include
1) the cost to construct 8 foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the current existing
roadway and
2) the cost to maintain the 7 speed humps along the current existing roadway.
