Subject: Seurynck, 5/30/08 = Testimony for Bill 285
Aloha, r
I am writing this message in support of Bill 285 which authorizes the County to issue bonds for Vl million to'-pay for
cr tlcal capital improvement projects, including $2.2 million for the Waimea Trail and Greerrvay, ,well as $3
million for school zone safety improvements. My understanding is that Bill 285 failed the first time it was heard
and that it will be heard for the second (final) time on MONDAY JUNE 2nd
As a concerned citizen and resident of the South Hilo District and as the Director of Five Mountains Hawaii (FMH) whose
mission is to improve the community health of North Hawaii, I believe that safe walking and bicycling facilities on our
island are essential for the well being or our youth and families. I implore you to support Bill 285 and through this
action, demonstrate your commitment to creating policy that supports those in the community who struggle to improve
their lifestyle. Strong communities are made up of strong people! Communities, health care providers and non-profits
lik FMH need the support of policy makers to make our Island a healthy place to raise families; this is your opportunity!
Please support support Bill 285, the full $112 million bond float; it contains funding for projects we here in Hawaii
County care about deeply, especially the Waimea Trail and Greenway and safety for kids walking/bicycling to and from
school.
Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Laura Seurynck
