Arakaki and Members of the County Council County of Hawaii Hilo, HI 96720 Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members: Please be advised that I have appointed the following women to the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women: • Laurine K. Carvalho of Volcano is a 42-year resident of Hawaii, and since 1996, has been employed with the First American Long & Melone Title Co., Ltd. Prior to that she was with the Sure Save Super Market, Ltd. (1977-1995). Mrs. Carvalho will be replacing Amy Aoyagi of Hilo who resigned due to a conflict in her work schedule. She will serve the balance of the unexpired term which will end on December 31, 1999. • Mary L. Andrews of Kamuela is a 14-year resident of Hawaii and has been employed, since 1989, as a real estate agent for the Clark Realty Corporation. Ms. Andrews will be replacing Carol Hendricks of Kamuela, who resigned due to her assuming a position which will require her to be in Honolulu several times a month. Ms. Andrews will serve the balance of the unexpired term which will end on December 31, 2000. • Jaime M. Kawauchi of Naalehu is a 25-year resident of Hawaii and since 1996, has been employed by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs as its Community Affairs Coordinator. Prior to that, she was with the State Department of Health (1987-1995). Ms. Kawauchi will be replacing June Tanoue whose term expired. She will serve a four year term to end December 31, 2001.
