RESOLUTION NO. 693 ~8
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross, Hawaii State Chapter has requested funds to purchase
disaster relief supplies for Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human
suffering by helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is the only organization mandated by congress to
respond to disasters and provide emergency communication to military families, and the only local
nonprofit organization that meets the needs of disaster victims any time of the day, 365 days a year;
and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross provides all disaster response and training to the public
free of charge; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the
Department of Research and Development to be used towards the American Red Cross, to purchase
disaster relief supplies; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $5,000
CREDITED TO:
010.161.5162.98 Department of Research and Development $5,000

(American Red Cross, disaster relief supplies)
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Finance and the Director of Research and Development and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
