Comm. 1039.79: MAYOR’S VETO MESSAGE REGARDING BILL 252, DRAFT 4, RELATING TO THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-09 From Mayor Harry Kim, dated June 13, 2008, returning Bill 252, Draft 4, stating his reason for disapproval, as listed in this communication. ;and Bill 252 Establishes an Operating Budget for the County of Hawai‘i for the Fiscal Year (Draft 4): July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009. {Proposed $407,811,287 Operating Budget for the County of Hawai‘i. Draft 4 reflects a decrease in the estimated revenues and appropriations by $189,750 to $407,811,287, .05% lower than the budget proposal submitted on May 21, 2008. Overall, the Council increased the Operating Budget by $4,606,289 (1.1%) higher than the proposed Operating Budget (Draft 2) submitted on May 5, 2008.} Note: In order for this bill to become law, the Council must vote (by majority) to reconsider it, within 30 days after it is returned; and to approve it again (2/3 majority vote) (see Article III, Section 3-12, Hawai‘i County Charter). For purposes of Chapter 92, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, notice is hereby provided that both motions may be offered and discussed at this meeting.
