RELATING TO THE GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT PROCEDURES

January 29, 1998, transmitting a letter and the above
bill from Planning Commission Chairman Kevin M. Baloq.
The purpose of this bill is to make the amendment
procedures more understandable and also to amend the
procedures to make it consistent with the County
Charter.

Comm. 648.02: From Duane Erway, dated January 14, 1998, requesting
that action on Bill 186 be deferred pending a public
hearing to be held in Kona on the matter.
Comm. 648.03: From William S. Taylor, President, Keauhou Master
Homeowners Association, dated January 14, 1998,
stating that they do not want Kamehameha Investment
Corporation's project (Bill 186) to be referred to as
"Keauhou Resort", as the applicant is calling it.
Comm. 648.04: From Joseph N. Castelli, dated January 15, 1998,
requesting that action on Bill 186 be deferred pending
a public hearing to be held in Kona.
Comm. 648.05: From Walter Kriewald, President of the Keauhou Kona
Surf & Racquet Club and Treasurer of the Keauhou
Master Homeowners Association, dated
February 10, 1998, requesting deferral of any rezoning
for Bishop Estate or KIC (Kamehameha Investment
Corporation) until the Kona Lagoon is cleaned up.
Also, had concerns regarding the lack of schools and
parks in KIC's proposal.
Comm. 648.06: From Laura Kamoku, Chair, Committee on Historic Sites,
Kona Hawaiian Civic Club, dated February 10, 1998,
stongly opposing Bill 186, Draft 2, for reasons, as
listed. Also requests that the project not be called
Keauhou Resort.
