My name is Chania Cascade, President o f f lawai'i Oasis, a existing business and growing
sustainable organization on Hawaii Island. Focused on providing; prol'e,ssional services,
sharing health and wellness, promoting; sustainable living in Ha.wai'i, Supporting the

1 am in strong support of creation of the proposed Department of Energy Sustainability.
it is ail cxvcll1;L4 way to strcamlinc research and decision making on how our County will
make best decisions on our energy and food security. This department will have a well
coordinated plan; to reduce use of imporit-d f6q-,il fuel by creatioL a strategy to locally
produce using renewable energy sources, in addition, working with the electrical utility to
move into using more renewable power sources.
Hawaii is the ideal location for integration of renewable energy resources,
