Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members:
Pursuant to Section 1 1-6 of the Hawaii County Charter, I am transmitting a bill for an
ordinance for immediate Council consideration.
The proposed bill presents an amendment to the Hawaii County Code which would
remove an exception to the general ban on the transportation and storage of nuclear
materials and, thereby, prohibit the building of an irradiator on the Island of Hawaii, as
proposed by the Petitioners' Committee, Parents Against Irradiation, outlined in Comm.
No. 931.
Please have this subject matter placed onto the August 5, 1998 Council agenda.
