No. 996, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Comm. No. 996, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated February 5, 2008, <br /> submitting the qualifying applications from nonprofit organizations pursuant to Chapter 2, <br /> Article 25, Hawaii County Code, for the Council's review and appropriation of funds for <br /> inclusion in the Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2008-2009. Forty-four (44) organizations have <br /> submitted applications for 67 programs, totaling $3,219,594. Attached is a list of organizations, <br /> the program titles, and amount requested, including three (3) that were ruled ineligible. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development (HSEDC), to which was <br /> referred Comm. No. 996.3, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Comm. No. 996.3, transmitted by HSEDC Chair Emily Naeole, notifies individuals to insert the <br /> application for Lyman Museum into the Nonprofit Grant Application booklet. <br /> <br /> The Council Members voted unanimously to close file on Communication 996 and Comm. 993. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development, to which was referred <br /> Comm. No. 996.4, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> The Ad Hoc Committee consisted of three County Council members: J Yoshimoto, Vice-Chair <br /> Angel Pilago, and Emily Naeole, Chair of the Human Services and Economic Development <br /> Committee. The Committee met with 17 applicants on March 13, 2008 in West Hawaii and <br /> 40 applicants on March 27 and 28, 2008 in East Hawaii for a total of 57 interviews and 10 site <br /> visits. <br /> <br /> This year, a total of 67 eligible applications were received. This represents an increase of ten (10) <br /> applications from last year. One applicant filed a late report and does not qualify for a grant this <br /> year. Three organizations did not meet the application's requirements and could not be <br /> considered for funding.
