Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication No. 1179, regarding Resolution 622-08, reports as follows: Resolution 622-08, transmitted by Council member Emily I. Naeole via Communication No. 1179, dated April 10, 2008, proposing a Resolution Requesting the County of Hawaii Mass Transit Agency to Create a Partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation to Design and Construct Park and Ride Facilities at Designated Sites along State Highway 130 and State Highway 137 within Council District 5. There were two members of the public in support of this proposed resolution. Council member Naeole stated the purpose of this resolution is to begin the process of creating a partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation in designing and constructing Park and Ride Facilities in her district. She reiterated that with the increasing gasoline prices public bus service would be a preferred means of transportation for her community, including herself. Ms. Naeole extended a mahalo in advance to Mass Transit Administrator Tom Brown for his assistance with this matter. She seeks the support from her colleagues on this proposed resolution.
