Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1030, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1030, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated February 11, 2008, reappoints
Ms. Tricia Malanka of Council District 7 to the County of Hawaii Board of Ethics. Ms. Malanka is
a three-year resident of Hawaii, and is an independent contractor working as a realtor. From 1992
to 2005, she was a flight attendant for American Airlines.
Ms. Malanka is a planning committee member of the Robert Lynn Sayre Foundation, and is a silent
auction committee member of the Aloha Hawaiian Night. She states that she is a registered
Democrat. Ms. Malanka was confirmed to this commission in January 2007, to serve the remainder
of a vacant term that ends on December 31, 2007. She is eligible to be reappointed for another term
to end on December 31, 2012.
Pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14-5, Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a board of ethics,
consisting of five members who shall be residents of the County, appointed by the Mayor with the
approval of the Council.
The Committee agreed that Ms. Malanka does not have to appear before the Full Council for final
confirmation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation for the reappointment of Tricia Malanka
to the Hawaii County Board of Ethics to serve a term ending December 31, 2012.
