Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 562-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 562-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1084, dated March 11, 2008, creates a Construction Equipment Mechanic position and
abolishing a Lubrication Worker position within the Department of Public Works Automotive
Division.
This position is essential to take care of the increase in construction equipment which services
the Kohala District; and the Lubrication worker position is no longer needed as it can only
perform lubrication work, when the grater need is to perform repairs and servicing of equipment.
Funds will be made available in the Department of Public Works Engineering Division's Regular
Salaries and Wages account.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, states that the Mayor has the
power to "Create positions... for which appropriations have been made by the Council."
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 562-08,
and recommends its adoption.
