Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1177, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 1177, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 7, 2008, nominating
Mr. Larry Komata, of Council District 2, to the County of Hawaii Public Access, Open Space
and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
Mr. Komata is a life-long resident of Hawaii. He retired as a residential fee appraiser for his
own business. He is currently the Chair on the Pukahi District Advancement Committee for the
Boy Scouts of America Aloha Council, Vice-President for the Big Island RC & D Council, and a
former member of the Rotary Club of South Hilo. Mr. Komata states that he is not affiliated
with any political party. If confirmed, Mr. Komata will replace Laura Schuster, whose term will
expire on December 31, 2009.
The Committee agreed that Mr. Komata does not have to appear before the full Council for final
confirmation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Larry Komata to the Hawaii
County Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission to serve a
term ending December 31, 2009.
