Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1185, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1185, transmitted by Finance Director William Takaba, dated April 18, 2008,
authorizes the acceptance of monetary donation of $100 to the Department of Parks and Recreation,
to cover expenses of the Recreation Division's Annual Biggest Easter Egg Hunt from Ms. Candace
Fukuda-Hanle, dba Kandi's Drive Inn.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be
submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Candace Fukuda-Hanle, at 56 W. Kawailani Street, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the monetary donation from
Ms. Candace Fukuka-Hanle to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
