Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 305, reports as follows:
Bill No. 305, transmitted jointly with Bill 304, by Finance Director William Takaba, via
Communication No. 1224, dated May 7, 2008, amends Chapter 18, Articles 1, 2, and 3, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), relating to common carriers, taxicabs and school
buses.
The purpose of this measure is to amend the referenced chapter of the Hawaii County Code to
reflect the movement of the driver licensing, periodic motor vehicle inspection (PMVI) and
public transportation related responsibilities and staff from the Hawaii County Police
Department to the Department of Finance. These changes are part of the ongoing transition
process between the Police Department and the Department of Finance.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 305, and
recommends it pass first reading.
