Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Communication No. 1222, regarding Bill 302, reports as follows:
Bill 302, transmitted by Director of Public Works, Bruce McClure, via Communication
No. 1222, dated April 29, 2008 amends Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-253.1,
schedule 1.1 (15 mile per hour limit), subsection (c) South Hilo, item (11) of the Hawaii County
Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), revising existing item: `Oma`o Street, from Kaumana
Drive to a point six hundred sixty feet in the southeasterly direction.
A member from the public commented on this proposed bill.
Traffic Division Chief, Ron Thiel appeared before your committee. Mr. Thiel commented that
the purpose of this traffic amendment is to correct an error in the initial bill. The proper distance
in the southeasterly direction should be six hundred sixty feet rather than six hundred feet.
Council Member Dominic Yagong commended the efficiency of Mr. Thiel and Department of
Public Works on addressing this matter.
