Comm. 628: APPOINTMENT TO THE WATER COMMISSION
- C KENNETH SOWDEN
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated
December 10, 1997, submitting for confirmation the
following appointment to the Water Commission:
Mr. C. Kenneth Sowden, a 30-year resident of
Hawaii who, since 1996, has been employed by
the Monarch Insurance Service. Prior to
that, he was with Marsh & McLennan, Inc.
(1980-1995). He has no political
affiliation.
If confirmed, Mr. Sowden will replace
Mr. Tom Poy of Hamakua, whose term expired
on December 31, 1996, and will serve a term
to end on December 31, 2001.

Comm. 630: APPOINTMENTS TO THE HAWAII REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (HRA)
- AILEEN LUM AND DAVID K REED
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated
December 11, 1997, submitting for confirmation the
following appointments to the Hawaii Redevelopment
Agency (HRA):
1. Ms. Aileen Lum, a life-time resident of
Hawaii who, since 1987, has been the Court
Administrator of the Judiciary, State of
Hawaii. She is a member of the Hawaii
County Board of Ethics (a seat she will
vacate on December 31, 1997). She has no
party affiliation.
If confirmed, Ms. Lum will fill a vacancy to
replace Ms. Janice Harvey Yee of Hilo, who
resigned for personal reasons, and will
serve a term to end December 31, 2000.
2. Mr. David K. Reed, a 40-year resident of
Hawaii who, since 1974, has been the owner
of Petroglyph Press, Ltd. He is a member of
the Democratic Party.
If confirmed, Mr. Reed will fill a vacancy
to replace Mr. Randolph A. Rohner, whose
term expired, and will serve a term to end
on December 31, 2002.
Comm. 632: APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF APPEALS
- WAYNE A EASLEY
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated
December, 11, 1997, submitting for confirmation the
following appointment to the Planning Board of Appeals:
Mr. Wayne A. Easley, a life-time resident of
Hawaii who, since 1979, has been the
owner/president of the Easley Corporation.
He is a member of the Republican Party.
If confirmed, Mr. Easley will replace
Ms. Geraldine M. Griffin of Waimea, whose
term will ezpire on December 31, 1997, and
will serve a term to end on
December 31, 2002.

following appointment to the Hawaii Redevelopment
Agency (HRA):
Mr. Harris T. Hirata, a life-time resident
of Hawaii, who is the Executive Vice
President and Chief Operations Officer of
Realty Finance, Inc. (a company he has
served since 1973). He has no party
affiliation.
If confirmed, Mr. Hirata will replace
Mr. William T. Davis, who has resigned, and
will serve a term to end on
December 31, 1999.
