Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 678-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 678-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1275, dated June 2, 2008, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more
than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of real property for a public parking lot and vehicular
turnaround area in Kainaliu, North Kona, Tax Map Key: (3) 7-9-007:005 (portion) from Kainaliu
Properties, LLC, for a five-year lease agreement, with an additional five-year term option.
The portion containing approximately 13,370 square feet will allow for the construction of an
off-street public parking lot and a vehicle turnaround (u-turn) area.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 678-08,
and recommends its adoption.
