SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
KALOKO DRIVE: PROPOSED SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION
We received a request to reduce the speed limit along the lower portion of Kaloko Drive to 35 mph. The
speed limit is currently posted at 40 mph.
It has been brought to our attention that a number of school children congregate along this section of
Kaloko Drive to wait for the school bus, and we concur that lowering the speed limit would improve
overall traffic safety in the immediate area. A location map is attached.
The Kona Police have been notified of our proposal, and they have no objections.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you have any
