Your Committee on Economic Development and Human Services, to which was referred
Communication No. 103, reports as follows:
Communication No. 103 is a letter from Mayor Stephen Yamashiro dated January 14, 1997,
submitting for confirmation the appointment of Mrs. Diane Quitiquit as Director of the
Department of Research and Development. Pursuant to Chapter 5, Section 5-5.2, of the Hawaii
County Charter, the Director of the Department of Research and Development shall be appointed
by the mayor and confirmed by the council.
Several members of the Committee stated their support and admiration for Mrs. Quitiquit. They
noted her numerous community activities and cited the outstanding job she has done as the
current Director of the Department of Research and Development.
Your Committee recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mrs. Diane Quitiquit as
director of the Department of Research and Development.
