SUBJECT: Proposed Bill Relating to Downtown Hilo Commercial Area Prohibition
Re. Coasters, Roller Skates, Roller Blades, Skateboards -
Request for Referral
Attached please find a proposed bill which would prohibit the use of coasters,
roller skates, roller blades, and skateboards in the Downtown Hilo Commercial Area. We
have attached a map that illustrates the boundaries of the proposed Downtown Hilo
Commercial Area. (Source: Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan.)
This bill has been prepared at the request of the Community Police Program and the
Hilo Main Street Program. These programs also participated in the drafting of the bill, in
conjunction with staff from the Legislative Auditor's Office and representatives from the
Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the Corporation Counsel's Office.
Please refer this bill to the appropriate committee for review and consideration.
