Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 654,
and Resolution No. 208, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 208 is to authorize the County of Hawaii, pursuant to Article 11,
Section 2-53 of the Hawaii County Code, to execute an agreement with the State of Hawaii,
Department of Education to develop a playground facility at Honaunau School.
The playground facility will be built to comply with the public playground guidelines and, upon
its completion, the playground facility shall be maintained by the Department of Education.
The County will assume no responsibility in operating or maintaining the facility a&er its
completion.
Communication No. 654 is a letter from Councilmember Joseph Reynolds, dated
December 22, 1997, which transmits Resolution No. 208 to the County Council for its review
and consideration.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 208, and
recommends its adoption.
