Chair and Members
Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 763, and
attached Bill No. 210, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 210 is to amend the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 7,
Section 24-291, Schedule 39 (2 hour parking meter zones), by deleting the existing two-hour parking
meter zone fronting Hilo High School and converting it to a no parking zone.
Communication No. 763 is lrom Ms. Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, Chief Engineer of the Department of
Public Works requesting that the existing two-hour parking meter zone fronting Hilo High School be
deleted and converted to a no parking zone. Ms. Kiyosaki informs that Hilo High School Principal Dr.
John Masuhara concurred with this proposal as parking is available within the school parking lot for
visitors. The no parking zone will improve visibility and sight distance for motorists.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 210, and recommends it pass
first reading.
