Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 1022,
and attached Bill No. 316, report as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 316 is to amend Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition), by transferring the reference to Kamaoa Road speed limits (25 miles per hour, 30 miles per
hour, and 40 miles per hour) from Puna to Kau, the correct district..
Communication No. 1022 is from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, Department of Public
Works, dated October 5, 1998, and states that since Kamaoa Road is located in the Ka'u district, he
is requesting that all items listed in Ordinance 97-97 relating to speed limits along Kamaoa Road be
deleted from subsection (g) Puna, and listed under subsection (d) Ka'u.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 316, and recommends that it
pass first reading.
